Smbat Defterderian

A Southern California native, Smbat brings 15+ years of coaching experience across all youth levels from 10U to 16u. A former NCAA player at Worcester State University with additional junior and international experience, he understands what it takes to compete and develop at a high level. Most recently, Smbat has served as Head of Player Development and a 12uAA Head Coach. Throughout his coaching career, he has been part of multiple SCAHA/CAHA championship teams.
He focuses on building competitive, disciplined players through skill development, hockey IQ, and a strong team-first mindset. His approach emphasizes accountability, consistent effort, and creating a positive environment where players are pushed to improve every day. Passionate about player development, Smbat is dedicated to helping athletes grow both on and off the ice while reaching their full potential.
